THINGS CAN CHANGE

October 22, 2026 Axiom Church

We all carry things we don't know what to do with. Some are visible to everyone around us. Others have been buried so deeply that we've learned to live as though they aren't there. Addiction. Grief. Depression. Betrayal. Disappointment. The marriage that didn't survive. The diagnosis we never saw coming. The person we lost. The patterns we promised ourselves we'd never repeat.

Over time, we become skilled at managing what hurts. We learn to cope, to keep busy, to put on a brave face, and sometimes even to spiritualize our suffering. We tell people we're fine because telling the truth feels too complicated, too vulnerable, or too dangerous.

But what if the beginning of transformation isn't pretending things are better than they are? What if change begins when we finally have the courage to tell the truth about our lives?

Throughout Scripture, we encounter ordinary people whose lives were marked by failure, suffering, loss, and uncertainty. Jacob couldn't outrun his past. Job couldn't explain his suffering. Elijah couldn't find the strength to keep going. Naomi couldn't imagine a future after everything she had lost. Yet in each of their stories, God was present and at work.

Things Can Change is a four-week invitation to bring our actual lives into the presence of God. Through ancient stories and honest testimonies from people in our community, we'll explore what transformation looks like when we stop hiding, make room for the truth, and discover the faithfulness of God in the middle of our unfinished stories.

Because sometimes God changes our circumstances. Sometimes God changes us within them. But no part of our lives is beyond the reach of his presence.
